We are the Newton Family, Danielle, Greg (Mom and Dad), Jack, Tiger, and Dade (Three son's, and dedicated Farmhands). Located in the CT River Valley, in the quaint town of East Haddam. We have made our home hear in this historic country side. With a passion for health and sustainability, Danielle has always had her hands in the dirt.
"I remember when I was 19, my boss asked me, ""what do you really want to do with your life?"" ( I had been working at his plant nursery for the past 4 years).
I answered immediately,
I want to be an organic vegetable farmer.
Back then I had this vision of a hundred acre plot out in California somewhere. But, the more I learned about sustainability, the small farm scale, and how important it is to support a local economy, the more I scaled back that vision. I didn't lose passion for the cause, just rather shifted my focus to a place where I could make a difference here and now, while raising my kids to also be stewards of the land. And what better place than my home state of CT."
While not farming, Danielle spends her time teaching and practicing yoga, teaching her children, or messing and cleaning the kitchen.
Yoga and Kirtan are offered here on the farm! Click here to see our upcoming events!
Greg, Owner and operator of Newton Carpenters LLC, is the mastermind behind all of our outbuildings and infrastructure. As a professional carpenter for over 15years, Greg has a true talent for working with wood. He has built our amazing farm stand and garden shed, as well as our blueberry enclosure and grape trellis. With the addition of a new sawmill, he is now able to source all of the lumber for our ever-growing farmstead locally and from here on the farm. You'll find his more artistic work in our farm stand this year. Come check it out!
Looking for a beautiful piece of wood for your next project? You can contact Greg directly at:

Jack is our eldest son. At 13 years old he is now the proud, part-time laborer here on the farm. He contributes heavily to the success of our operation. From caring for the animals, fixing fences, working the soil, and harvesting produce, his efforts are endless. Outside of farm work, Jack enjoys spending time at the skatepark, filming and editing videos, and building computers. He is a kind, hardworking young man.
Tiger, 10 years old, is something of an animal whisperer. He takes care of the daily needs of our chickens and goats, but more importantly, he keeps them happy by playing with and entertaining them. We believe animals are a necessary addition to any farm, and thanks to Tiger, our animals are living a very happy life. He also contributes to our seasonal harvest duties. Outside of farm life, Tiger is a talented skateboarder and master of imagination. Life here is never dull thanks to him!
Our 3 year old Daedalus, affectionately known as Dade, is proving to be a very skilled and knowledgeable farmer. Dade has essentially grown up in the garden. Before he could walk, Dade has been digging in the dirt, hanging out with the worms, and investigating the bugs. He loves collecting tiny creatures and keeping them in his pockets! He nurtures the baby chicks, harvests the blueberries, and can identify nearly everything we grow here on the farm. Looking for something in particular? Just ask Dade, he'll know where to find it!
Although our family is at the core of our operation, we have so many friends and volunteers that keep this small farm running. The kind of friends that get excited to haul rocks in order to support expansion of the garden beds, pull weeds for hours in the 90 degree heat, and chop thousands of hot peppers to help make our canned goods possible. A special shout out to Gary (Grampy), Beirut, Rufus, Leah, and Shea (forever friends), and Brendan and Janѐe (beekeepers). This group of people has believed in our vision and pushed, pulled, and supported us from the very beginning.
We are forever grateful.
We would love to have you here to help out on the farm! Click here to get involved!
